It's March 2020 and you're staying home. You're doing the right thing.
Let's make the best of it and try something new, shall we?
Have you ever baked with Steen's Cane Syrup? In loads of recipes, it's a fine, all-natural substitute for granulated sugar, especially brown sugar. It's 100% pure, plant-based, GMO-free, gluten-free. What's not to love about all that!
You may not know this but Southerners used sugar cane syrup as their primary sweetener loooong before there was granulated white sugar. That's how Steen's Syrup Mill began in 1910. Cane farmers from miles around brought their annual cane crop for grinding at our Abbeville mill and took home a few pails of pure cane goodness as their primary sweetening for the year! If you're new to baking with Steen's, let's start out with an easy recipe with ingredients you probably have in the pantry. Put Steen's Cane Syrup and your favorite nuts on your grocery list. Together, we'll make a few loaves of Steen's Orange Bread. A lil ray of sunshine. Some to enjoy now,
some to freeze for later.
Steen’s Orange Bread 2 2/3 cups all-purpose flour 1/2 cup sugar 1/2 tsp baking soda 2 tsp baking powder 1 1/2 tsp salt 1/2 cup chopped pecans 1/2 cup Steen’s Pure Cane Syrup 2/3 cup milk 1/4 cup vegetable oil 1/2 cup orange juice 1 Tbsp grated orange rind Preheat oven to 325 degrees. In a medium bowl, combine first six (dry) ingredients. In another bowl, whisk together the next five ingredients. Pour the liquid mixture into the dry mixture, combining just enough to blend. Coat 9 x 5 loaf pan with cooking spray. Fill pan with batter. Bake for 1 hour 15 minutes. Remove and place on rack to cool. Yields 12 slices. Freezes well. 🍊🍞🍊🍞🍊 #steenssyrup #steenscanesyrup #breads #breakfastbread #certifiedlouisiana #easybread #goodeats
